HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is likely to redevelop for coastal and inland parts of the South East Coastal district from early Wednesday morning. Six-hour rainfall totals between 30 and 45 mm are possible with localised falls up to 55 mm. DAMAGING WINDS averaging 65 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of around 100 km/h are likely to develop over coastal areas between Esperance and Israelite Bay before dawn on Wednesday. DAMAGING WIND GUSTS are also possible further inland later on Wednesday morning. Winds and rainfall are forecast to ease by mid afternoon on Wednesday. Locations which may be affected include Esperance, Israelite Bay and Salmon Gums. 55 mm was recorded at Condingup West in the 6 hours to 4:08 am Tuesday. 46.4 mm was recorded at Esperance Airport in the 6 hours to 4:05 am Tuesday. 45.6 mm was recorded at Coomalbidgup in the 6 hours to 1:50 am Tuesday. 34.8 mm was recorded at Ridley North in the 3 hours to 1:20 am Tuesday. Severe Weather Warning for HEAVY RAINFALL and DAMAGING WINDS Issued at 8:15 am Tuesday, 16 June 2026. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * If outside find safe shelter away from trees, power lines, storm water drains and streams. * Close your curtains and blinds, and stay inside away from windows. * Unplug electrical appliances and do not use land line telephones if there is lightning. * If boating, swimming or surfing leave the water. * Be alert and watch for hazards on the road such as fallen power lines and loose debris. * Keep away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. * Be careful of fallen trees, damaged buildings and debris. * Be careful of fallen power lines. They are dangerous and should always be treated as live. * Assess your home, car and property for damage. * If damage has occurred take photos and contact your insurance company to organise permanent repairs. * If your home or property has significant damage, like a badly damaged roof or flooding, call the SES on 132 500. Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, showers and southwesterly winds are expected during Tuesday and Wednesday. Areas likely to be affected include parts of the South East Coastal and Central Wheat Belt forecast districts. There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.
