Road Snowfall Warning Area: Lindis Pass (SH8) Forecast: Snow is expected to continue to settle on the road above 400 metres until mid-morning Monday. Expect a further 10 to 15 cm near the summit with lesser amounts down to 400 metres. Impact: Note: A Road Snowfall Warning means there is a likelihood of snow settling on the road during the warning period. Heavy Snow Warning - Orange Area: Otago excluding coastal areas, and northern Southland (north of about Lumsden) Forecast: Further snow is expected during the night above 200 to 300 metres. Between 400 and 600 metres, another 5 to 10 cm of snow is expected, especially south of Queenstown to Middlemarch. Above 600 metres, there could be 20 to 40 cm of snow still to fall. Impact: Travel disruption and damage to trees and powerlines possible. Cold conditions may cause stress for livestock. Chance of upgrading to a Red Warning: Moderate. Impact: Action: Prepare for snow, cold temperatures, and possible power outages. If you must travel, drive cautiously, and ensure you have snow chains, sleeping bags, warm clothing, and emergency items.
