Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued July 3 at 7:01PM CDT until July 4 at 1:00AM CDT by NWS Topeka KS THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 452 IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM CDT SATURDAY FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN KANSAS THIS WATCH INCLUDES 9 COUNTIES IN NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS CLAY CLOUD OTTAWA REPUBLIC WASHINGTON IN NORTHEAST KANSAS MARSHALL NEMAHA POTTAWATOMIE RILEY THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF BELLEVILLE, BENNINGTON, BLUE RAPIDS, CLAY CENTER, CLIFTON, CONCORDIA, FRANKFORT, GREENLEAF, HANOVER, LINN, MANHATTAN, MARYSVILLE, MINNEAPOLIS, SABETHA, SENECA, ST. MARYS, WAMEGO, AND WASHINGTON.

Special Weather Statement issued July 3 at 10:24PM CDT by NWS Topeka KS At 1024 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near St. Marys to 7 miles southeast of Volland to 3 miles southwest of Latimer. Movement was southeast at 40 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down small tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Northwestern Topeka, Junction City, Wamego, Herington, Council Grove, Rossville, Alma, Eskridge, St. Marys, Dover, Silver Lake, Auburn, Enterprise, Maple Hill, White City, Alta Vista, Dwight, McFarland, Harveyville, and Paxico. This includes the following highways... Interstate 70 between mile markers 310 and 355. Kansas Turnpike between mile markers 160 and 164. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 100 AM CDT for northeastern Kansas.
