Flood Warning issued June 26 at 3:57PM CDT until June 27 at 8:00AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is ongoing. * WHERE...A portion of south central Kansas, including the following counties, Cowley, Harper, Kingman and Sumner. * WHEN...Until 800 AM CDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 354 PM CDT, local law enforcement reported flooding in the warned area due to heavy rain from thunderstorms from Thursday night. Between 1 and 6 inches of rain fell Thursday night. - Flooding impacts will continue. A few showers and storms will be possible through Friday night and could lead to additional flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Arkansas City, Winfield, Wellington, Mulvane, Kingman, Anthony, Belle Plaine, Harper, Conway Springs, Caldwell, Oxford, Udall, Attica, Burden, Argonia, Norwich, Cunningham, South Haven, Dexter and Atlanta. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown.

Arkansas River at Arkansas City affecting Cowley County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Arkansas River at Arkansas City. * WHEN...Until early Tuesday morning. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 2:00 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 16.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 17.2 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage Monday afternoon. - Flood stage is 11.0 feet. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. The next statement will be issued this afternoon at 215 PM CDT.
