Flood Warning issued June 26 at 12:04AM CDT until June 26 at 4:15AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of south central Kansas, including the following counties, Cowley, Harper, Kingman, Reno, Sedgwick and Sumner. * WHEN...Until 415 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1204 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Wellington, Kingman, Clearwater, Cheney, Harper, Conway Springs, Caldwell, Oxford, Argonia, Norwich, Cunningham, Viola, Nashville, Murdock, Waterloo, Willowdale, Mayfield, Zenda, Milan and Spivey. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

Slate Creek At Wellington affecting Cowley and Sumner Counties. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Slate Creek at Wellington. * WHEN...Until late Saturday morning. * IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Flood waters cover several low lying spots along Seneca Road between 40th and 60th Street just southeast of Wellington. Woods Park within the city floods. Slate Creek comes to roadway's edge at mile marker 15 on the the Kansas Turnpike. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:00 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 18.9 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 22.1 feet early tomorrow afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage late tomorrow evening. - Flood stage is 19.0 feet. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away.
