Flood Watch issued June 25 at 4:14AM CDT until June 26 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of central, east central, south central, and southeast Kansas, including the following counties, in central Kansas, Barton, Ellsworth, Lincoln, Marion, McPherson, Rice, Russell and Saline. In east central Kansas, Chase. In south central Kansas, Butler, Cowley, Harper, Harvey, Kingman, Reno, Sedgwick and Sumner. In southeast Kansas, Allen, Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson. * WHEN...Through Friday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Storms will gradually move into the area this morning and continue through the early afternoon hours. Additional storms are then expected to develop over southern Kansas late this afternoon and evening. All of these storms will produce high rainfall rates that may lead to flooding. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Slate Creek At Wellington affecting Sumner and Cowley Counties. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Slate Creek at Wellington. * WHEN...From late tonight to early tomorrow afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 19.0 feet, Flood waters begin to over flow the banks. Minor low land flooding can be expected along the creek. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:00 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 15.6 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 19.0 feet just after midnight tonight. - Flood stage is 19.0 feet. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov.
