Special Weather Statement issued July 17 at 3:32PM MDT by NWS Great Falls MT At 331 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 18 miles west of Augusta, or 39 miles southwest of Choteau, moving east at 15 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and nickel size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Augusta, Nilan Reservoir, and Bean Lake. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
