Flood Warning issued June 6 at 3:09AM CDT until June 6 at 12:00PM CDT by NWS Omaha/Valley NE * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Northwestern Gage County in southeastern Nebraska... Northern Jefferson County in southeastern Nebraska... Saline County in southeastern Nebraska... Southern Seward County in southeastern Nebraska... * WHEN...Until noon CDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 309 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is already occurring in the warned area. Between 4 and 7 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Crete, Milford, Wilber, Friend, Dorchester, De Witt, Plymouth, Beaver Crossing, Western, Clatonia, Daykin, Goehner, Cordova, Tobias, Swanton, The Highway 41 and 15 South Junction, Swan Creek Wildlife Management Area, Swan Creek Reservoir Number 2, Willard Meyer Recreation Area and Blue River State Recreation Area. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Turkey Creek near De Witt affecting Gage and Saline Counties. .A significant amount of rain has fallen upstream of De Witt, specifically in areas of Swan Creek and Turkey Creek. There is some uncertainty in the potential rise as this water moves toward De Witt. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Turkey Creek near De Witt. * WHEN...From this evening to late tonight. * IMPACTS...At 25.0 feet, Water begins to overtop Blueridge Drive and likely many county roads along the river. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:45 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 19.9 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 23.5 feet this evening. - Flood stage is 23.5 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 23.7 feet on 05/10/2016. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Even six inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet and a depth of two feet will float your car. Never try to walk, swim, or drive through such swift water.
