Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued July 9 at 6:01PM CDT until July 9 at 6:45PM CDT by NWS Bismarck ND At 601 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Balta, or 11 miles south of Rugby, moving southeast at 15 mph. HAZARD...Ping pong ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include... Balta and Silva. Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing damaging winds and large hail. Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. Seek shelter immediately in an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built structure. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

High temperatures will range from around 92 to 102 Saturday, 97 to 107 on Sunday, and 95 to 105 on Monday. * WHERE...All of western and central North Dakota including the James River Valley. * WHEN...From Saturday afternoon through late Monday night. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Overnight low temperatures will only drop to around 70 degrees, providing little relief from the heat. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates.
