Special Weather Statement issued July 12 at 4:23PM EDT by NWS Wilmington NC At 422 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Darlington Raceway to Lake City. Movement was east at 10 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Florence, Lake City, Darlington, Timmonsville, Sardis, Effingham, Darlington Raceway, Friendfield, New Hope, Evergreen, Scranton, and Coward. This includes the following highways... Interstate 20 between mile markers 132 and 141. Interstate 95 in South Carolina near mile marker 146, and between mile markers 149 and 167. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
